Life in the Hicks Family!
Well where do I start? Dana & I met in middle school when I started attending her church after moving to Eufaula, AL. We grew as friends & after 8 years of dating off & on we got engaged. After 2 years of engagement waiting on Dana to graduate from Auburn University we were married. Now almost 13 years & 3 kids later here we are.
I'm the West Florida District Council Assemblies of God, Student Ministries Director. We started this journey June of 2013. We were serving as the seniors pastor of Living Waters Assembly of God in Apalachicola, FL. We came on as pastors in October 2009. Before that, I was on staff as an associate pastor at Medart Assembly of God in Crawfordville, FL under Pastor Jeff McFalls for 7 years. During that time he mentored me & help me develop the leadership skills needed for ministry.
Our oldest child is Steven. He's an energetic young man with a funny sense of humor. He's all boy enjoying baseball, soccer & enjoys video games & getting outside fun time with the family. Steven is a great reader & his grades show it. He's always done well in school. While he may be shy in groups, when he gets on a stage, he loves public speaking and doing short sermons. Not to mention, he's becoming a great illusionist.
Emily is the middle child. She's only 12 months 6 days behind Steven so now it's like raising twins. She definately has her own sense of style, humor & personality. She has a very creative mind & does great in school. Emily is blossoming into a beautiful young woman. She's a great help to her mom & takes great care of her little sister. Emily love's constantly redecorating her room, organizing & music.
Kenzie is 7 years behind Emily. She is full of life & energy! Kenzie is a handful. She can make anyone laugh! She loves anything princess, loves to dance and loves to be the center of attention.
As you can see, God has blessed our family. We are very proud of our Christian heritage. Both sets of parents raised us in church & now we're raising our family in church. As Joshua said, "as for me and my house we WILL serve the Lord!" Now understand it's not like we never have any problems, the fact is we have issues all the time. But the key is we know where our hope lies. We know that God is our source of provision, health & peace. Without him we are nothing & our dreams are dead. But WITH God, all things are possible!
